Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Media, Utilities and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr), which rose 15.79% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.110 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 7.69% or 0.010 points to end at 0.140 and Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) was up 6.98% or 0.028 points to 0.429 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which lost 16.67% or 0.047 points to trade at 0.235 in late trade. Hygeia (AT:HYGr) declined 3.23% or 0.005 points to end at 0.150 and Titan Cement (AT:TTNr) shed 3.01% or 0.650 points to 20.950.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 49 to 26 and 2 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.20% or 2.50 to $1227.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.40% or 0.24 to hit $60.30 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.60 to trade at $66.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.82% to 1.1355, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.7242.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.72% at 93.97.
