Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP), which rose 0.67% or 0.0725 points to trade at 10.9075 at the close. J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) fell 0.04% or 0.0050 points to end at 11.8850 and EDP (LISBON:EDP) was down 0.34% or 0.0125 points to 3.6175 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA), which lost 4.98% or 0.1370 points to trade at 2.6130 in late trade. Teixeira Duarte (LISBON:TDSA) declined 3.53% or 0.0220 points to end at 0.6020 and Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) shed 1.67% or 0.01 points to 0.89.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 50 to 16 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 0.04% or 0.03 to $56.90 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.59% or 0.30 to hit $50.61 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.08% or 12.30 to trade at $1131.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.0846, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.6941.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 97.99.
