Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Leisure Goods and Personal Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.62%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 4.78% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.82 at the close. Technip (PA:TECF) added 1.75% or 0.85 points to end at 49.70 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was up 1.25% or 0.140 points to 11.350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which lost 7.40% or 9.15 points to trade at 114.50 in late trade. L`Oreal SA (PA:OREP) declined 1.67% or 2.85 points to end at 167.95 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) shed 1.63% or 1.55 points to 93.43.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which rose 4.78% to 4.82, Aperam (AS:APAM) which was up 4.50% to settle at 33.12 and Solocal Group SA (PA:LOCAL) which gained 3.47% to close at 7.420.
The worst performers were Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) which was down 7.40% to 114.50 in late trade, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which lost 5.46% to settle at 38.905 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 3.09% to 26.505 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 380 to 353 and 60 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.61% to 23.53.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.60 to $1067.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.06% or 0.43 to hit $40.24 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $43.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.0642, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.6992.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 99.77.
