Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 4.99% or 4.02 points to trade at 84.52 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 2.04% or 0.020 points to end at 1.000 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was up 1.06% or 1.05 points to 100.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 7.38% or 0.11 points to trade at 1.38 in late trade. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) declined 4.71% or 0.04 points to end at 0.82 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) shed 4.67% or 0.05 points to 1.02.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 26 to 13 and 46 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 4.70% or 1.57 to $31.82 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 3.89% or 1.35 to hit $33.34 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.28% or 15.50 to trade at $1225.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.48% to 218.800, while USD/NGN fell 0.07% to 199.020.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 97.45.
