Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Machinery and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hannstar Displ (TW:6116), which rose 10.00% or 0.36 points to trade at 3.96 at the close. Swancor (TW:4733) added 10.00% or 14.00 points to end at 154.00 and Siward Crystal (TW:2484) was up 10.00% or 1.60 points to 17.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which lost 5.71% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.65 in late trade. Kpt Industries (TW:1805) declined 4.69% or 0.29 points to end at 5.89 and Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) shed 3.74% or 0.07 points to 1.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 690 to 155 and 2 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.50% or 0.46 to $29.93 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 2.75% or 0.81 to hit $28.44 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1090.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.62% to 33.587, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1952.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 99.14.
