Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 9.33% or 1.21 points to trade at 14.12 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 6.10% or 0.23 points to end at 3.95 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was up 1.92% or 0.86 points to 46.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NN Group (AS:NN), which lost 2.10% or 0.67 points to trade at 31.20 in late trade. Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) declined 1.57% or 0.08 points to end at 5.19 and OCI (AS:OCI) shed 0.93% or 0.200 points to 21.225.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 96 to 77 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.87% to 26.05.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.55% or 0.57 to $36.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 2.00% or 0.74 to hit $36.48 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.41% or 4.40 to trade at $1079.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.85% to 1.0738, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.7327.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 99.53.
