Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Auto, Textile and Biotech & Medical Care sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everspring Ind (TW:2390), which rose 9.95% or 2.15 points to trade at 23.75 at the close. Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) added 9.92% or 0.26 points to end at 2.88 and Johnson (TW:1736) was up 9.90% or 5.20 points to 57.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Msi (TW:2377), which lost 6.74% or 3.00 points to trade at 41.50 in late trade. U-Tech (TW:3050) declined 4.91% or 0.47 points to end at 9.11 and Yem Chio (TW:4306) shed 4.00% or 0.55 points to 13.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 615 to 222 and 4 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.17% or 0.07 to $43.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.44% or 0.20 to hit $46.06 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.27% or 2.90 to trade at $1072.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.53% to 32.470, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1972.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 99.81.
