Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which rose 3.09% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.000 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 2.94% or 0.10 points to end at 3.41 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 1.35% or 0.07 points to 5.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 4.42% or 0.10 points to trade at 2.16 in late trade. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) declined 0.83% or 0.02 points to end at 2.35 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) shed 0.72% or 0.13 points to 18.01.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 27 to 19 and 58 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 3.02% or 1.36 to $46.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.95% or 0.93 to hit $48.40 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.46% or 5.20 to trade at $1132.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 1.24% to 224.560, while USD/NGN rose 0.01% to 199.025.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 95.95.
