Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemicals, Utilities and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB gained 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Finmeccanica (MILAN:SIFI), which rose 6.52% or 0.720 points to trade at 11.770 at the close. Banco Popolare (MILAN:BAPO) added 3.70% or 0.5100 points to end at 14.3000 and Enel (MILAN:ENEI) was up 2.84% or 0.120 points to 4.350 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which lost 2.22% or 0.26 points to trade at 11.47 in late trade. Autogrill (MILAN:AGL) declined 2.20% or 0.20 points to end at 8.66 and STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM) shed 1.81% or 0.160 points to 8.695.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 292 to 183 and 1 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.81% or 0.47 to $57.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.73% or 0.47 to hit $65.33 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.50% or 17.90 to trade at $1176.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.0876, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.7164.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 97.05.
