Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Information Technology and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 1.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH), which rose 4.71% or 5.05 points to trade at 112.28 at the close. Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) added 2.75% or 1.79 points to end at 66.80 and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) was up 2.72% or 1.21 points to 45.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which lost 2.99% or 2.08 points to trade at 67.42 in late trade. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) declined 1.69% or 1.20 points to end at 69.80 and PKP Cargo (WA:PKPP) shed 1.33% or 0.85 points to 62.92.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 253 to 242 and 206 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.11% or 0.05 to $45.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $48.02 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 1.04% or 13.46 to trade at $1279.74 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.22% to 4.1982, while USD/PLN rose 0.15% to 3.7432.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 96.97.
