Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Cement and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inventec Besta (TW:8201), which rose 9.96% or 0.96 points to trade at 10.60 at the close. Calin (TW:4976) added 9.94% or 3.10 points to end at 34.30 and Goodway (TW:1583) was up 9.93% or 7.00 points to 77.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Roo Hsing (TW:4414), which lost 9.98% or 2.15 points to trade at 19.40 in late trade. Gamma Optical (TW:3557) declined 8.87% or 0.550 points to end at 5.650 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) shed 6.33% or 2.50 points to 37.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 454 to 320 and 106 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.60% or 0.29 to $48.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.39% or 0.20 to hit $51.17 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.70% or 8.45 to trade at $1209.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.42% to 30.912, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2238.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 100.92.
