Australia take three uncapped pacemen to South Africa

MELBOURNE (Reuters) - Australia have included a trio of uncapped fast bowlers in an under-strength 15-man squad for their one-day international tour of South Africa.

Victoria's Chris Tremain joins South Australia pair Joe Mennie and Daniel Worrall for the tour which starts with a one-day match against Ireland on Sept. 27 before five games against the hosting Proteas.

Pace spearheads Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have been rested from the series but batsman Aaron Finch was included in Steve Smith's squad despite breaking a finger in the last one-dayer against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

"Chris, Joe and Daniel all had terrific summers last year and have also impressed us during the recent Australia A series with consistent performances," selectors chairman Rod Marsh said in a media release on Monday.

"They are young players with a bright future who thoroughly deserve their selection and we look forward to seeing them work with (fast bowlers) John Hastings and Scott Boland, who have both performed well for Australia since returning from injury."

Spinner Nathan Lyon, top order batsman Usman Khawaja and all-rounder Moises Henriques have been omitted after being selected in the squad that defeated Sri Lanka 4-1 away.

Young batting talent Travis Head, fast-tracked into the national side this year, has retained his spot after playing every game against Sri Lanka.

Squad:

Steve Smith (captain), David Warner, George Bailey, Scott Boland, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, John Hastings, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Joe Mennie, Chris Tremain, Matthew Wade, Daniel Worrall, Adam Zampa
