Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3), which rose 3.00% or 0.71 points to trade at 24.41 at the close. Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) added 2.77% or 1.22 points to end at 45.25 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was up 2.49% or 0.84 points to 34.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 5.74% or 0.52 points to trade at 8.54 in late trade. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) declined 5.10% or 0.60 points to end at 11.16 and Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) shed 3.17% or 0.24 points to 7.32.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 168 to 125 and 22 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.17% to 37.00.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.50 to $1363.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.70% or 2.23 to hit $45.20 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.05% or 1.50 to trade at $141.85 .
USD/BRL was up 1.11% to 3.3672, while EUR/BRL rose 0.79% to 3.7257.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 96.30.
