Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Philips Kon (AS:PHG), which rose 1.37% or 0.38 points to trade at 27.68 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) added 1.19% or 0.56 points to end at 47.48 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) was up 0.63% or 0.025 points to 3.983 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DSM Kon (AS:DSMN), which lost 3.77% or 2.31 points to trade at 58.95 in late trade. Heineken (AS:HEIN) declined 3.58% or 2.83 points to end at 76.17 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) shed 3.03% or 6.95 points to 222.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 108 to 66 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.41% to 17.38.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.18% or 0.59 to $49.37 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.46% or 0.74 to hit $50.05 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.40% or 5.05 to trade at $1268.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.0915, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8925.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 98.57.
