Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Banking and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 2.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM), which rose 5.43% or 3.08 points to trade at 59.80 at the close. mBank (WA:MBK) added 4.69% or 14.70 points to end at 328.20 and CCC SA (WA:CCCP) was up 4.67% or 5.85 points to 131.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eurocash SA (WA:EUR), which lost 0.47% or 0.25 points to trade at 53.50 in late trade. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) declined 0.31% or 0.14 points to end at 44.58 and Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) shed 0.20% or 0.05 points to 25.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 273 to 229 and 180 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.79% or 0.26 to $32.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.28% or 0.45 to hit $34.59 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.03% or 11.80 to trade at $1153.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.21% to 4.4181, while USD/PLN fell 0.97% to 3.9482.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.63% at 96.64.
