Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Entire Tech (TW:3573), which rose 10.00% or 1.85 points to trade at 20.35 at the close. Basso Indu (TW:1527) added 9.92% or 5.90 points to end at 65.40 and Microelectroni (TW:2314) was up 9.80% or 0.91 points to 10.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which lost 9.23% or 0.92 points to trade at 9.05 in late trade. Global Brands (TW:6191) declined 6.21% or 0.44 points to end at 6.65 and Twn Cogenerati (TW:8926) shed 5.87% or 1.35 points to 21.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 479 to 357 and 6 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.36% or 0.12 to $34.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.68% or 0.25 to hit $37.14 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.62% or 6.50 to trade at $1056.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.30% to 32.933, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1969.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 98.82.
