Investing.com - Kicking off a busy day in Westminster are Prime Minister Questions, which can be watched live in the video link below.
When parliament is in session, the Prime Minister faces a series of questions by lawmakers on a weekly basis. Today’s PMQs will be scrutinised as Theresa May’s future as prime minister is in question as the U.K. struggles to agree on the terms of its divorce from the European Union.
In an attempt to break the deadlock, Members of Parliament (MPs) voted to take control of the Order Paper in the House of Commons following a motion tabled by former minister Sir Oliver Letwin on Monday.
As a result of Letwin´s motion, parliament will debate a series of Brexit scenarios before voting on them on Wednesday evening.
The Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow will choose from a selection of 16 different proposals for MPs to debate from 15:00 GMT before voting begins at 19:00 GMT. The results of the indicative votes are expected at around 21:00 GMT.
Some proposals include an option to remain within a customs union; leaving without a deal; the alternative exit plan proposed by the opposition Labour party; or putting parliament’s choice back to the people for a confirmatory public vote.
At 17:00 GMT at a separate meeting of backbench Tory MPs, the 1922 Committee, the Prime Minister is expected to announce a date for her own departure in return for support for her Withdrawal Agreement, which has already been defeated twice in parliament.
According to the terms set out by the EU last week, Theresa May has until Friday to pass her deal in parliament in order to leave by 22 May. As it stands, should the PM fail to get her deal through parliament, the U.K. will crash out of the bloc without a deal on 12 April.
At 11:45 GMT, the pound was up 0.1 percent at 1.3222.
