Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 0.89% to hit a new 3-year low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which rose 1.90% or 0.0110 points to trade at 0.5900 at the close. Semapa (LS:SEM) added 1.64% or 0.1600 points to end at 9.9100 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was up 1.01% or 0.0160 points to 1.6000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 6.28% or 0.0012 points to trade at 0.0179 in late trade. Sonae (LS:YSO) declined 3.34% or 0.0260 points to end at 0.7530 and Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) shed 2.82% or 0.0830 points to 2.8570.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 36 to 14 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for August delivery was down 2.61% or 1.28 to $47.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.75% or 1.32 to hit $46.69 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.34% or 17.25 to trade at $1305.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1235, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.7910.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 94.78.
