Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Banking and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Eurocash SA (WA:EUR), which rose 3.66% or 1.90 points to trade at 53.75 at the close. CCC SA (WA:CCCP) added 3.34% or 4.05 points to end at 125.15 and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) was up 3.29% or 0.44 points to 13.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which lost 2.93% or 1.77 points to trade at 58.69 in late trade. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) declined 2.61% or 0.07 points to end at 2.61 and Enea SA (WA:ENAE) shed 1.79% or 0.20 points to 11.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 256 to 231 and 173 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 6.56% or 1.96 to $31.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 6.42% or 2.10 to hit $34.82 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.06% or 11.90 to trade at $1139.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.16% to 4.4161, while USD/PLN fell 1.01% to 3.9976.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.25% at 97.63.
