Investing.com – Malaysia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Trade & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI declined 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (KL:BATO), which rose 1.73% or 1.12 points to trade at 65.72 at the close. DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) added 0.93% or 0.05 points to end at 5.43 and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB) was up 0.65% or 0.10 points to 15.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS), which lost 3.13% or 0.05 points to trade at 1.55 in late trade. Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) declined 3.09% or 0.17 points to end at 5.33 and Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) shed 2.31% or 0.07 points to 2.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 398 to 192 and 45 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.70% or 0.34 to $47.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.86% or 0.47 to hit $54.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.20% or 13.00 to trade at $1099.00 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.10% to 2.7887, while USD/MYR fell 0.06% to 3.8190.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.55% at 96.81.
