Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Insurance and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.33% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.30%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 3.26% or 0.570 points to trade at 18.075 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 2.34% or 0.175 points to end at 7.639 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 2.06% or 0.135 points to 6.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which lost 4.00% or 6.550 points to trade at 157.000 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 0.79% or 0.690 points to end at 86.680 and Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) shed 0.61% or 0.700 points to 114.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which rose 3.39% to 69.280, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 3.15% to settle at 96.360 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which gained 2.78% to close at 36.070.
The worst performers were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 2.35% to 55.630 in late trade, Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which lost 0.68% to settle at 37.940 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 0.66% to 49.020 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 2.67% to 44.660, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 2.03% to settle at 48.210 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 1.81% to close at 41.050.
The worst performers were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 2.72% to 8.250 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 1.64% to settle at 12.590 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.60% to 43.550 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 444 to 311 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.45% to 14.94.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.88% or 10.05 to $1132.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.58% or 0.31 to hit $53.37 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.52 to trade at $55.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0393, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8410.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 103.26.
