Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.86% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4), which rose 6.36% or 0.96 points to trade at 16.06 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 3.88% or 0.27 points to end at 7.22 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was up 3.22% or 1.10 points to 35.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which lost 6.78% or 0.29 points to trade at 3.99 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 5.19% or 0.12 points to end at 2.19 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) shed 5.14% or 1.81 points to 33.42.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 208 to 102 and 22 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.55% to 43.64.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.45% or 5.75 to $1279.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.49% or 0.71 to hit $48.43 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.67% or 0.90 to trade at $132.82 .
USD/BRL was down 0.26% to 3.4912, while EUR/BRL fell 0.30% to 3.9506.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 94.53.
