Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.47% or 2.080 points to trade at 62.030 at the close. Aegon (AS:AEGN) added 2.47% or 0.124 points to end at 5.136 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 2.10% or 0.151 points to 7.340 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which lost 4.05% or 0.108 points to trade at 2.556 in late trade. NN Group (AS:NN) declined 0.37% or 0.12 points to end at 32.61 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) shed 0.27% or 0.04 points to 15.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 87 to 40 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.09% to 15.29.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.49% or 0.26 to $53.07 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.65% or 0.36 to hit $55.94 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.55% or 6.65 to trade at $1204.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.44% to 1.0750, while EUR/GBP fell 0.89% to 0.8506.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 99.89.
