Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 1.08% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Dromeas (AT:DROr), which rose 21.50% or 0.023 points to trade at 0.130 at the close. Centric Hold (AT:DESr) added 10.31% or 0.020 points to end at 0.214 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was up 4.75% or 0.019 points to 0.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr), which lost 13.91% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.099 in late trade. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) declined 6.82% or 0.009 points to end at 0.123 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) shed 5.96% or 0.13 points to 2.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 46 to 30 and 2 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.84% or 9.90 to $1187.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.48% or 0.89 to hit $61.03 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.80 to trade at $65.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.1342, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.7294.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.71% at 94.49.
