Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Oil & Gas and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 3.10%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 3.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 6.30% or 1.50 points to trade at 25.30 at the close. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) added 5.70% or 2.17 points to end at 40.17 and Klepierre (PA:LOIM) was up 5.10% or 1.86 points to 38.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which lost 5.12% or 1.36 points to trade at 25.29 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 1.58% or 0.05 points to end at 3.30 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) shed 0.32% or 0.04 points to 13.85.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which rose 8.54% to 38.20, Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which was up 7.89% to settle at 12.310 and CGG (PA:GEPH) which gained 7.23% to close at 0.89.
The worst performers were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which was down 5.12% to 25.29 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which lost 1.58% to settle at 3.30 and Havas (PA:HAVA) which was down 0.32% to 7.077 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 585 to 112 and 85 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 11.40% to 27.45.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.07% or 0.80 to $1099.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 7.21% or 2.13 to hit $31.66 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 7.98% or 2.33 to trade at $31.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.0810, while EUR/GBP fell 1.05% to 0.7567.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 99.50.
