United Arab Emirates shares higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.76%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate & Construction, Telecoms and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.76%, while the ADX General index added 0.93%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which rose 8.00% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.620 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 5.77% or 0.030 points to end at 0.550 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) was up 3.85% or 0.050 points to 1.350 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National General Insurance Co PSC (DU:NGIN), which lost 9.74% or 0.30 points to trade at 2.78 in late trade. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) declined 5.42% or 0.110 points to end at 1.920 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) shed 5.02% or 0.023 points to 0.435.

The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 13.64% to 0.750, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was up 6.82% to settle at 0.470 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which gained 3.94% to close at 7.39.

The worst performers were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which was down 9.82% to 1.010 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 5.26% to settle at 0.90 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 2.33% to 0.840 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 17 to 9 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 rose and 10 declined, while 10 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.17% or 0.06 to $34.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.05% or 0.02 to hit $36.91 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1242.90 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.05% to 3.9956.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 98.22.
