Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were J Touch (TW:3584), which rose 10.00% or 0.71 points to trade at 7.81 at the close. Mediatek (TW:2454) added 10.00% or 23.00 points to end at 253.00 and Tsrc (TW:2103) was up 10.00% or 1.80 points to 19.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Feng Tay Entpr (TW:9910), which lost 4.31% or 8.50 points to trade at 188.50 in late trade. Space Shuttle (TW:2440) declined 3.04% or 0.26 points to end at 8.30 and Catcher Tech (TW:2474) shed 2.99% or 10.00 points to 325.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 759 to 84 and 1 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.82% or 0.35 to $42.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.43% or 0.20 to hit $47.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.59% or 6.60 to trade at $1129.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 32.275, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1977.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.74.
