Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Software & Computer Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa), which rose 4.94% or 1.24 points to trade at 26.35 at the close. Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN) added 2.88% or 0.51 points to end at 18.04 and Gemalto (AMS:GTO) was up 1.75% or 1.36 points to 79.01 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice SA (AMS:ATCE), which lost 4.02% or 4.80 points to trade at 114.50 in late trade. Randstad (AMS:RAND) declined 1.28% or 0.79 points to end at 60.97 and OCI (AMS:OCI) shed 1.23% or 0.360 points to 28.875.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 136 to 77 and 2 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.24% to 18.05.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $48.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.10% or 0.06 to hit $53.44 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.41% or 4.50 to trade at $1088.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.77% to 1.0899, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.7001.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 97.86.
