Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Chemicals and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB rose 1.12% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Autogrill (MILAN:AGL), which rose 4.53% or 0.38 points to trade at 8.66 at the close. Mediobanca (MILAN:MDBI) added 4.12% or 0.375 points to end at 9.475 and Azimut Holding (MILAN:AZMT) was up 3.65% or 0.88 points to 25.01 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset (MILAN:MS), which lost 1.41% or 0.068 points to trade at 4.764 in late trade. Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) declined 1.27% or 0.15 points to end at 11.63 and Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU) shed 0.29% or 0.04 points to 13.99.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 375 to 88 and 2 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.27% or 0.65 to $50.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.92% or 0.53 to hit $56.58 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 2.15% or 24.30 to trade at $1107.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.0851, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.6962.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.99.
