Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Personal Goods, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.36%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which rose 5.73% or 0.56 points to trade at 10.28 at the close. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) added 2.88% or 4.45 points to end at 158.85 and Essilor International (PARIS:ESSI) was up 2.45% or 2.60 points to 108.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY), which lost 0.66% or 0.25 points to trade at 37.66 in late trade. Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) declined 0.59% or 0.020 points to end at 3.349 and Saint Gobain (PARIS:SGOB) shed 0.58% or 0.24 points to 40.84.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) which rose 5.73% to 10.28, Eramet (PARIS:ERMT) which was up 3.43% to settle at 78.20 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) which gained 2.88% to close at 158.85.
The worst performers were Technicolor (PARIS:TCH) which was down 1.56% to 5.856 in late trade, Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which lost 1.19% to settle at 38.100 and Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY) which was down 0.66% to 37.66 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 596 to 272 and 72 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 5.31% to 20.68.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.42% or 5.10 to $1223.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.24% or 0.75 to hit $59.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.56 to trade at $66.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1377, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7221.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 93.61.
