Benzinga - Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and owner of the social media platform Twitter, on Monday, hosted a two-hour conversation with Robert F. Kennedy Jr, a Democratic presidential candidate and nephew of former President John F. Kennedy. Kennedy, who presented himself to potential voters as an outspoken advocate of Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), did not mention apex crypto during the discussion.

What Happened: Musk and Kennedy spoke about other technology topics, including artificial intelligence, social media censorship, calls for AI regulations, and how COVID misinformation is handled on these platforms.

This silence on Bitcoin comes after Kennedy’s keynote address at Bitcoin 2023 in Miami, where he championed the cryptocurrency as an example and exercise in democracy. He had also announced that he will accept campaign donations in Bitcoin.

Why It Matters: The lack of comment regarding digital assets follows a lawsuit unveiled by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Binance and its CEO Changpeng Zhao. The charges have rattled the cryptocurrency market, causing instability and uncertainty.

Kennedy’s Twitter talk featured former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan, who briefly mentioned his stance on Bitcoin and central bank digital currencies (CBDC). However, the conversation focused on the dollar and U.S. Treasuries, rather than cryptocurrency.

Meanwhile, the Presidential candidate received an endorsement from Twitter co-founder and current CEO of fintech firm Block (NYSE:SQ) Jack Dorsey, on Sunday.

Price Action: At the time of writing, BTC was trading at $25,780.80, down 4.12%, in the last 24 hours, according to Benzinga Pro.
