Benzinga - As Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) experiences price surges, its largest holders, often referred to as 'crypto whales,' have been strategically offloading substantial portions of their holdings.

According to prominent crypto analyst Ali Martinez, these whales have redistributed or sold over 5 million ETH since February 2023, translating to approximately $8.5 billion.

Amid these intriguing market movements and whale activities, the crypto community is eagerly awaiting Benzinga's Future of Digital Assets conference on Nov. 14. The event, known for its insightful panels and expert discussions, is set to provide a deep dive into these recent trends. Analysts, investors, and industry leaders will converge to dissect these developments and offer projections on what lies ahead for the world of digital assets.

Martinez notes that there hasn't been any discernible shift toward ETH accumulation from these major players, indicating a continued selling trend.

The reasons behind this massive sell-off remain speculative, with potential factors ranging from profit-taking, concerns about the broader market, or strategic portfolio realignment.

Martinez further highlighted a crucial observation for Ethereum's immediate future.

He said, “Ethereum is hovering above a critical demand zone."

Investors and traders are advised to remain vigilant, as a daily close below the $1,530 mark could be a harbinger of a sharp correction in Ethereum's value.

In a related observation on Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), Martinez hinted at potential market movements for the leading cryptocurrency as well.

He stated, “Given the triangle’s y-axis height, we might anticipate a 5% correction in BTC, potentially heading to $26,200.”

This suggests that the broader crypto market might be bracing for some significant price adjustments in the near term.
