Benzinga - Crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, formerly known as ‘BitBoy,’ found himself in a precarious situation as he spent the night in jail and now faces two charges after an arrest.

What Happened: Armstrong’s arrest unfolded on Tuesday while he was live streaming outside the residence of a former associate. The incident resulted in his detention in a cell for slightly over eight hours, as confirmed by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia.

Although Armstrong has since been released on bail, he now faces charges of “loitering/prowling” and “simple assault by placing another in fear,” with his bond set at $2,600 and an additional $40 in fees.

Armstrong appeared to mock the situation on X, “My name is Ben and I’m a loiterer. I did 8 whole hours in the slammer.”

Later on, he tweeted, “I’m taking a week’s break from social media,” followed by the remark, “No, not because of the memes."

Why It Matters: The incident leading to Armstrong’s arrest took place on the evening of September 25 when he visited the residence of his former associate, Carlos Diaz, whom he accused of possessing his Lamborghini.

In a now-deleted livestream, Armstrong said, "If Carlos Diaz comes out of his house and tries to kill me live on YouTube, then it's just gonna have to be what it's gonna be, Carlos." This alarming declaration was made just hours after Armstrong had tweeted about going live soon from a "very special location" on YouTube.

During the livestream, which lasted approximately 19 minutes, Armstrong expressed his grievances before the local police intervened and subsequently apprehended him.

Armstrong took to X to appeal to his followers for assistance in funding his legal campaign to regain control of BitBoy Crypto. As of now, donations totaling over $54,000 have been contributed to his Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) , Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) , and Cardano (CRYPTO: ADA) addresses.
