Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which rose 2.00% or 1.50 points to trade at 76.60 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 0.84% or 0.120 points to end at 14.400 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 0.39% or 0.065 points to 16.820 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.19% or 0.270 points to trade at 8.189 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.24% or 1.710 points to end at 74.650 and ASML Holding (AS:ASML) shed 1.67% or 2.00 points to 117.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 86 to 45 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 6.19% to 12.37.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.57% or 0.77 to $48.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.38% or 0.71 to hit $50.91 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.95% or 11.75 to trade at $1245.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.0813, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8659.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.66% at 99.50.
