Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 1.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA), which rose 5.35% or 0.0185 points to trade at 0.3645 at the close. Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS) added 3.48% or 0.1110 points to end at 3.3010 and Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) was up 3.28% or 0.0002 points to 0.0063 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT), which lost 1.09% or 0.0970 points to trade at 8.8000 in late trade. J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) declined 1.01% or 0.1100 points to end at 10.7950 and Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) shed 0.64% or 0.01 points to 0.78.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 45 to 16 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for August delivery was down 0.59% or 0.34 to $56.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.82% or 0.95 to hit $51.38 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.73% or 8.40 to trade at $1161.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.36% to 1.1053, while EUR/GBP rose 1.21% to 0.7208.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 96.56.
