LONDON (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell (AS:RDSa) said on Tuesday it had adjusted output at its Godorf and Wesseling refineries in Germany as extremely low water levels on the Rhine river were hampering barge traffic.
"Shell can confirm that as a result of extremely low water levels in the Rhine, barges are no longer able to enter the Wesseling Harbour. The Godorf Harbour is also experiencing traffic limitations due to low water levels," it said in a statement.
"We are utilising all supply routes available to us and have adjusted production levels. We will continue to closely monitor the situation."
Months of low water levels have cut off key demand centres in Germany and Switzerland from coastal refining and storage hubs in the Netherlands and Belgium, wreaking havoc in the region's oil market.
