Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.59% to hit a new 6-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 2.21% or 0.80 points to trade at 37.02 at the close. Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) added 2.18% or 0.144 points to end at 6.764 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) was up 1.30% or 0.35 points to 27.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 4.07% or 3.68 points to trade at 86.63 in late trade. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 3.95% or 1.58 points to end at 38.54 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) shed 3.75% or 1.46 points to 37.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 3.38% to 24.470, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which was up 2.21% to settle at 37.02 and Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) which gained 2.18% to close at 6.764.
The worst performers were Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which was down 4.56% to 2.51 in late trade, CNP Assurances (PA:CNPP) which lost 4.40% to settle at 10.975 and STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which was down 4.29% to 5.580 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 432 to 294 and 53 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.25% to 29.75 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.61% or 6.80 to $1101.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.69% or 0.23 to hit $33.50 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.61% or 0.20 to trade at $33.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.0886, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.7498.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 98.70.
