Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB), which rose 4.15% or 4.68 points to trade at 117.50 at the close. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 3.90 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 6.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 4.81% or 3.08 points to trade at 61.00 in late trade. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) declined 2.02% or 0.49 points to end at 23.80 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) shed 1.49% or 0.10 points to 6.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 14 to 10 and 71 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.30% or 0.16 to $53.04 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.38% or 0.21 to hit $55.76 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.57% or 6.95 to trade at $1232.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.67% to 332.550, while USD/NGN rose 1000.00% to 317.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 101.12.
