Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 4.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3), which rose 21.14% or 3.70 points to trade at 21.20 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 16.59% or 0.72 points to end at 5.06 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 12.58% or 1.18 points to 10.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which lost 3.79% or 2.28 points to trade at 57.82 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 2.88% or 0.41 points to end at 13.84 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) shed 2.22% or 1.17 points to 51.47.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 196 to 114 and 5 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.35% to 41.26 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.63% or 18.50 to $1117.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.68% or 1.70 to hit $47.84 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.18% or 1.40 to trade at $120.08 .
USD/BRL was down 2.11% to 3.7696, while EUR/BRL fell 2.59% to 4.1324.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 97.25.
