Investing.com – Oil edged lower Wednesday ahead of official U.S. stockpile data.
U.S. crude was down 27 cents, or 0.58%, at $46.08 at 06:45 ET, while Brent crude shed 0.82% to $48.33.
American Petroleum Institute data Tuesday showed a rise of 940,000 barrels in U.S. crude stocks.
Inventories of gasoline fell by 1.6 million barrels as the U.S. summer driving season draws to a close.
Official Energy Information Administration (EIA) figures are due out later Wednesday.
The EIA is expected to report an increase of 921,000 barrels in U.S. crude stocks.
Hopes of an accord by major producers to curb output have faded.
OPEC members are due to hold an informal meeting next month in September.
The dollar index was slightly lower. A weaker dollar lends support to the demand for oil.
