Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 4.58% or 0.52 points to trade at 11.87 at the close. Banco Santander Brasil SA (SA:SANB11) added 2.54% or 0.46 points to end at 18.56 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) was up 2.53% or 0.40 points to 16.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which lost 4.51% or 0.68 points to trade at 14.40 in late trade. BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3) declined 4.50% or 0.81 points to end at 17.18 and Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) shed 4.46% or 0.32 points to 6.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 161 to 123 and 28 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.37% to 40.81.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 2.40% or 30.40 to $1296.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $45.95 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.30% or 0.36 to trade at $121.78 .
USD/BRL was down 1.50% to 3.4369, while EUR/BRL fell 0.65% to 3.9354.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.75% at 93.03.
