Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Producers and Personal Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.81%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP), which rose 6.04% or 1.07 points to trade at 18.86 at the close. Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 3.78% or 1.88 points to end at 51.62 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) was up 2.55% or 1.10 points to 44.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB), which lost 2.97% or 3.80 points to trade at 124.20 in late trade. BNP Paribas SA (PARIS:BNPP) declined 0.93% or 0.53 points to end at 56.23 and Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) shed 0.80% or 0.35 points to 44.12.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Teleperformance (PARIS:ROCH) which rose 9.62% to 68.96, Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) which was up 6.04% to settle at 18.86 and CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which gained 5.62% to close at 4.58.
The worst performers were Nexity (PARIS:NEXI) which was down 5.13% to 40.45 in late trade, Suez Environnement (PARIS:SEVI) which lost 3.40% to settle at 17.200 and Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) which was down 2.97% to 124.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 481 to 330 and 52 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.50% to 19.10.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.05% or 0.50 to $1096.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.58% or 1.24 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.12% or 0.59 to trade at $53.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1025, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7056.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 96.95.
