Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 5.30% or 0.228 points to trade at 4.528 at the close. Banco Popular (MC:POP) added 5.23% or 0.083 points to end at 1.671 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) was up 3.91% or 0.068 points to 1.808 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL), which lost 1.59% or 0.16 points to trade at 9.67 in late trade. Bankinter (MC:BKT) declined 0.60% or 0.041 points to end at 6.757 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) shed 0.42% or 0.115 points to 27.520.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 117 to 70 and 25 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1214.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.47% or 0.23 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.42 to trade at $50.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1157, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.7735.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.49.
