Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Glass, Iron & Steel and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Arcadyan Tech (TW:3596), which rose 9.93% or 4.50 points to trade at 49.80 at the close. Ahoku Eltr (TW:3002) added 9.90% or 1.00 points to end at 11.10 and Shuttle (TW:2405) was up 9.86% or 1.05 points to 11.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.79% or 0.42 points to trade at 3.87 in late trade. Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) declined 9.36% or 0.51 points to end at 4.94 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) shed 8.40% or 0.21 points to 2.29.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 417 to 320 and 113 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.99% or 0.74 to $38.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.37% or 0.54 to hit $39.97 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1236.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.16% to 32.446, while TWD/CNY rose 0.20% to 0.2001.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.59.
