On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, Gold futures for August delivery traded at USD1171.60 a troy ounce at time of writing falling 0.63%.
Earlier, it traded at a session low USD1166.30 a troy ounce. Gold was likely to find support at USD1166.30 and resistance at USD1187.60.
US Dollar Index, which tracks the performance of the greenback versus a basket of six other major currencies, rose 0.65% to trade at USD95.70.
Elsewhere on the Comex, Silver for September delivery fell 0.27% to trade at USD15.653 a troy ounce while Copper for September delivery fell 0.44% to trade at USD2.622 a pound.
