Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BRU:UCB), which rose 1.86% or 1.18 points to trade at 64.64 at the close. bpost NV (BRU:BPOST) added 1.26% or 0.33 points to end at 26.45 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BRU:COLR) was up 0.89% or 0.37 points to 41.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 1.85% or 0.30 points to trade at 16.14 in late trade. Belgacom (BRU:BCOM) declined 1.56% or 0.51 points to end at 31.82 and Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) shed 1.04% or 0.52 points to 49.64.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 91 to 80 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1187.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.15% or 0.66 to hit $56.85 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $61.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.0913, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.7138.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.40.
