On the New York Mercantile Exchange, Crude oil futures for September delivery traded at USD47.17 a barrel at time of writing falling 2.00%.
Earlier, it traded at a session low USD47.12 a barrel. Crude oil was likely to find support at USD47.12 and resistance at USD50.71.
US Dollar Index, which tracks the performance of the greenback versus a basket of six other major currencies, fell 0.73% to trade at USD96.63.
Elsewhere on the ICE, Brent oil for September delivery fell 2.79% to trade at USD53.09 a barrel, with the spread between the Brent oil and Crude oil contracts stood at USD5.92 a barrel.
