On the New York Mercantile Exchange, Crude oil futures for August delivery traded at USD56.99 a barrel at time of writing falling 4.16%.
Earlier, it traded at a session low USD56.70 a barrel. Crude oil was likely to find support at USD56.70 and resistance at USD59.96.
US Dollar Index, which tracks the performance of the greenback versus a basket of six other major currencies, rose 0.78% to trade at USD96.50.
Elsewhere on the ICE, Brent oil for August delivery fell 2.36% to trade at USD62.09 a barrel, with the spread between the Brent oil and Crude oil contracts stood at USD5.1 a barrel.
