Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Hotels and Communication and Internet sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 0.65 points to trade at 7.15 at the close. Asmedia (TW:5269) added 9.85% or 19.50 points to end at 217.50 and Zero One Tech (TW:3029) was up 9.85% or 2.65 points to 29.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abocom Systems (TW:2444), which lost 5.74% or 0.95 points to trade at 15.60 in late trade. Microtek Intl (TW:2305) declined 5.67% or 0.44 points to end at 7.32 and Zinwell (TW:2485) shed 4.99% or 1.75 points to 33.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 435 to 408 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.17% or 0.10 to $59.60 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.27% or 0.17 to hit $63.37 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.80 to trade at $1173.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.38% to 30.930, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.2006.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.42.
