Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Basic Materials and Electronic Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.87%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 2.84% or 1.14 points to trade at 41.08 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 1.47% or 0.88 points to end at 60.60 and Alcatel Lucent SA (PA:ALUA) was up 1.39% or 0.052 points to 3.780 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which lost 4.98% or 5.75 points to trade at 109.75 in late trade. Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) declined 4.13% or 2.48 points to end at 57.52 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) shed 3.15% or 0.92 points to 28.26.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 5.09% to 27.850, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which was up 2.84% to settle at 41.08 and ICADE (PA:ICAD) which gained 2.14% to close at 68.21.
The worst performers were Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which was down 5.12% to 51.35 in late trade, Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) which lost 4.98% to settle at 109.75 and CNP Assurances (PA:CNPP) which was down 4.17% to 12.630 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 394 to 340 and 56 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.30% to 23.00.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.07% or 0.70 to $1064.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.29% or 0.12 to hit $41.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.23 to trade at $44.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.0618, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.7044.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 99.94.
